  • Design optimisation for storage, discharge, dosing and delivery of secondary or substitute fuels - 12th Global CemFuels Conference & Exhibition, Berlin, 20-21 February - Stand #11

Winchester, 8 February 2018:

Bulk solid handling and bio-energy combustion specialist Saxlund Group, which has a track record of delivering alternative fuel handling and delivery solutions to many of Europe’s leading Cement producers, will be explaining some of the issues encountered when handling modern alternative fuels and how to ensure full plant availability with minimal downtime.

The company will be explaining its design approach for minimising storage and transfer issues for what can be sticky and challenging materials, including SRF, RDF and other biomass fuels.  This ensures long-term plant durability, uninterrupted operation and minimal operator intervention to clear blockages and material flow.

A key focus will be on activated silo discharge solutions and conveying equipment with an emphasis on ‘First in, first out’ design principles to minimise compaction and material conglomeration. Key technologies covered will include the company’s leading Push Floor and Sliding Frame solutions, bucket elevators and enclosed chain conveyors, plus integrated screening, weighing and dosing solutions.

The team will present a number of case studies covering experiences across the industry including a complete end-to-end solution for one of the UK’s largest cement kilns, incorporating the reception, storage, transportation, screening, weighing and pneumatic injection of SRF to cut fossil fuel consumption. Other project experience includes secondary fuel-handling solutions for CBR Cement in Belgium, plus an RDF facility for Lafarge Holcim at the company’s plant in Höver, Germany.

In addition, Saxlund has wide experience of general materials handling contracts for the cement industry covering Tyre Chip Handling, Pulverised Furnace Ash (PVA) and FGD gypsum, each with differing materials handling challenges.

Saxlund brings over 60 years’ experience and a range of technical solutions including patented Sliding Frame and Push-Floor technology, plus Hydraulic Rotor and Tubefeeder solutions for effective silo discharge, ensuring a consistent metred flow of material to meet downstream processes. These are complemented by a range of transfer technologies refined over a number of years, including Trailer Docking Stations, Bucket Elevators, Screws, enclosed Chain Conveyors and Screens.

According to Matt Drew, Head of Sales for the Saxlund Group and UK MD: “A 60-year history in delivering successful bulk material handling solutions combined with leading Push Floor, Sliding Frame, Hydraulic Rotor and TubeFeeder technology are key reasons clients chose and specify Saxlund solutions again and again. Early design engagement, a clear understanding of material characteristics and the application of appropriate technology remain crucial in delivering resilient trouble free solutions.”

Why By-Products Are a Valuable Resource for The Food And Drinks Industry

-

 – Biomass handling in the food and drinks sector Across Europe food and drink manufacturers have been piling into the bioenergy sector for some time, turning waste and production by-products into energy. Some are successfully producing sufficient energy – both heat and power – for their own needs, with surplus energy feeding back to the … Continue reading Why By-Products Are a Valuable Resource for The Food And Drinks Industry

– Challenging the status quo of conventional fossil fuel power stations. The four crucial factors governing success for Energy from Waste (EFW) and biomass combustion projects continue to revolve around: location technology fuel supply investment Ground Breaking Technology Will Win the Smart Money Despite the challenge of what can be ground breaking technology, at least … Continue reading The Secret Recipe for Efficient Energy From Waste Delivery

How Water Companies Save Up to £17,000K P/M

-

Increasing demands on water companies to meet environmental targets, reduce costly overheads and streamline operations have opened up further debate on alternative ways to be more profitable. The UK Government and the Environmental Agency produced an evidence document in 2009 “transforming wastewater treatment to reduce carbon emissions”. The WFD (Water Framework Directive) set targets that … Continue reading How Water Companies Save Up to £17,000K P/M

CfD Causing Unfair And Unjustifiable Uncertainty

-

We believe combined heat and power (CHP) projects using UK waste wood should have a long-term beneficial role as part of the UK’s future energy mix, as is the case in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe.  An abundance of raw materials for CHP plants As an energy source, waste wood is not dependent on … Continue reading CfD Causing Unfair And Unjustifiable Uncertainty
