Wood Chip Handling for the Particle Board Industry

Since the Particle Board Industry started in the 1960's, it has relied heavily on Saxlund International flat bottom silo technology for its silo systems. Our reference list reads like a who's who of the industry worldwide and we continue to offer this service to this day.

We have extensive experience with all materials from wet stringy bark through to dry sander dust, as well as recycled wood.

As the industry has grown and environmental considerations have become more important, larger raw material stores have become necessary and these very often now inside by using a large silo or a rectangular building equipped with a reclaimer. To this end, Saxlund International has a licence agreement for the famous TubeFeeder® machine.

Our biomass energy plants are also common in the Industry to enable low grade timber residue and waste fuels to be used as a heat source for chip dryers as well as hot thermal oil for press lines.

Particle Board Projects

Bischweier

For the expansion of the Kronospan chipboard plant in Bischweier, Saxlund supplied 5 sliding frames and a large pull floor. The sliding frame discharging devices are installed into round silos up to 600m³ for central and surface layer, fire protection, and 2 times dust. The large pull floor has a length of 20m, a width of 38m, and a filling height of 7m.

Egorievsk (RUS)

For the new construction of the Kronospan chipboard plant in Egorievsk, Saxlund supplied 5 sliding frames and a large pull floor.

Egger Suceava (RO)

For the new building of the Egger chipboard plant in Sueava, Saxlund supplied 6 sliding frames, 6 push and pull floors, as well as 1 hydraulic rotor. The sliding frame discharging devices are installed in round silos up to 700m³ for central and surface layer, fire protection, dust, and granulates.
The push and pull floors have a length of up to 29m, a width of 6m, and a filling height of up to 6.5 m. For the hogged wood chip silo before the knife ring flaker, Saxlund supplied the hydraulic rotor system with 4 discharging screws.
