Sludge Handling in the Wastewater Industry

Although originally developed for biomass materials, Saxlund International flat bottom silo technology was soon in demand for many other difficult and sticky bulk solid materials. This of course includes de-watered sludge cake in the water industry (sludge handling).

The Push Floor and Sliding Frame discharge machines have been engineered and refined over the years to a level that allows us to claim to be market leader in sludge handling. The latest generation of both the Push Floor and Sliding Frame now have new patents.

Material Handling

In common with all our silo systems, there is generally a requirement for a machine to deliver to and convey away from it and then to meter or dose into a particular process. To this end, Saxlund International has developed a range of special machines to handle sticky sludge cake materials. These include Screw Conveyors both ribbon and shafted types, Chain Conveyors and Solids Handling Pumps.

This combined with our control engineering, allows us to offer the Industry a complete system. Typical systems for sludge handling include Truck Reception, Truck Loading and Process Feed. Systems for Limed Cake are also supplied.
