From our experience, we often see that if a particular fuel is non free-flowing, then the fly ash that is produced after combustion is also non free flowing when stored in silos prior to disposal. Saxlund policy is therefore to always fit our Sliding Frame discharge machine to the silo. This will guarantee a controlled feed to our conditioning screws prior to truck loading for disposal for example. In this way the user can be sure that he has a reliable flow of evenly wetted ash.
As well as a standard range of ash conditioning screws, we also manufacture a range of rotary valves for use as seals after filters and in ash pneumatic conveying systems.
Slag and bottom ash is generally handled in a submerged chain scraper conveyor designed to deposit the wetted material into a skip for disposal. Alternatively, should the client wish to keep the material dry for a particular reason, we supply water cooled screw and chain conveyors designed to cool the hot ash and slag prior to disposal.
